The preliminary steps of Personal Injury compensation claims
It’s very important to seek legal advice if you have suffered a personal injury. Throughout your claim, you will be required to provide information and evidence relating to your injuries or illness to maximise your entitlements. Such evidence includes:
+ Medical / Sickness certificates demonstrating a reduced work capacity;
+ Pay slips and tax returns in support of claims for loss of earnings;
+ Photographs depicting your injuries;
+ Medical / radiological reports;
+ Receipts and invoices relating to medical expenses.
It is important to note that strict time limits apply to all Personal Injury claims. Most Personal Injury Claims require a claim to be formally filed in court within three years of the injury or the illness being diagnosed.
Failure to make a claim within the applicable time limit can put your claim at risk of being statute barred. It is essential that you seek legal advice from an experienced Personal Injury Lawyer as soon as possible after you have suffered an injury or been diagnosed with an illness to ensure you are aware of what time limits may apply to your claim.
At C+F Lawyers, our Personal Injury Lawyers have a combined 65+ years of experience in dealing with a broad range of Personal Injury claims. We can guide you through the claims process and ensure you better understand the time limits that may apply to you.
